THE HOUSE ON THE FORD

A pretty Victorian house set on the banks of a stream where wild ponies gather to drink. With direct access on to the New Forest for walking, cycling and riding this is an enchanting place to visit - very quiet and, as we are often told by our guests, very relaxing.

Brockenhurst village with shops, pubs and restaurants and main line station is just a few minutes walk from The House on the Ford.

There is plenty to do and places to visit; the yachting town of Lymington, with its great Saturday market, is 4miles away. From there you can take a short ferry ride to explore the Isle of Wight.

Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, Burley, Southampton, Bournemouth are all a short drive from the House on the Ford

Breakfast is served in the conservatory overlooking the garden with a choice of cooked full English breakfast, vegetarian cooked breakfast, French toast with maple syrup or fresh fruit plate with yoghurt all served with plenty of freshly brewed coffee and tea, toast and home made jams and marmalade.

Directions: From Lyndhurst (M3 then M27 WEST) take the A337 to Brockenhurst. After 4miles passing the Balmer Lawn hotel on your left, take the 2nd right into GRIGG LANE over a cattle grid. Take the second right after about 300 yards marked FORD, another 300 yards brings you to a water splash. The House on the Ford is on your right, painted grey-green, on the corner of PARK CLOSE.

From Brockenhurst station: Turn right outside the station and walk down to the level crossing, turn left along the Lyndhurst Road keeping the bike hire shop on your left. After a parade of shops including Londis Newsagents take the third left into WATERS GREEN over a cattle grid. At the next cross roads go straight across into the road marked FORD. The House on the Ford is on your right, on the corner of PARK CLOSE, just before the water splash.
