English Tourism Council 4 STARS

Old Stables Cottage is a carefully converted Georgian stable block, retaining the ambience of its time with the highest standard of contemporary comfort. Small, compact, on one level, it is ideal for 2 people requiring 4-star holiday accommodation on the open Forest.

Facing south towards the hills of the Isle of Wight and to the open forest to the west, where the sunsets are admired. Old Stables dwells in its own private setting, complete with driveway, pretty garden and patio. Even in the winter on sunny days, guests can sit out as the sun concentrates on the south side of the cottage creating a pocket of warmth.

Many guests return year after year, so early booking is advised. Open all year, Old Stables attracts Christmas and New Year guests, together with the attractions of November, when the Forest is in all its autumn glory. Early spring is also popular, as the Forest awakes with renewed life. Quite separate from, but adjacent to, Myrtle Farm, the owners can always extend a friendly support service and advice on commoning and traditional farming. The village services include the shop, garage, church and Turfcutters Arms. And good food is available at the East End Arms, a mile towards Lymington Town and Ferry, while medieval Beaulieu village is 3 miles in a northerly direction.

The accommodation includes :

Cutlery and china are supplied. The kitchen has a fridge-freezer, electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, iron and ironing board. Towels are provided for the bathroom which includes bath with shower, toilet, bidet and wash-hand basin. On request, a powered chair for bathing can be arranged for less mobile guests.

Heating and hot water are supplied by night storage, included in the rental, additional electricity being measured by the meter. The cottage is carpeted throughout with the exception of the tiled kitchen and bathroom. Plasma television in the living room completes this well appointed, attractive and cosy cottage – a holiday special place for all seasons.

Babies are welcome free with their own cots.

The garden is fully fenced and a nice family dog is allowed at a small additional charge.

Bookings are made on a weekly basis with changeovers on Fridays,
as guests find Lymington’s old market on Saturdays a particular attraction.

Old Stables is non-smoking throughout for health and comfort.
